Beautiful Lake Oconee is one of Georgia's largest and newest lakes, in fact
it is the second largest lake in the state. It was formed in 1979 and is located
near Eatonton, Georgia just a short drive east of Atlanta and west of Augusta.
The lake is surrounded by gently rolling hills of the Georgia Piedmont region.
The surface area of the lake is 19,050 acres, and the shoreline is 374 miles.
For generations, people have recognized the restorative power of the waters of
Lake Oconee. More than a century ago, the Creek Indians lived beside a river
they called Okoni or "The Great Water." Today those waters form a magnificent
lake, renowned for its natural beauty and superb recreation.

Oconee. Cuscowilla's 700 acres form a series of peninsulas, bordered by a remarkable
six and one-half miles of shoreline on Lake Oconee. Fragrant pine orchards and
rolling meadows complete the soothing, peaceful setting.
